Quick Response

Last month saw the exciting launch of the Quick Response exhibition brought together by Theo Christelis and Michael Opie O’Grady at 71A gallery. The display was inspired by the pairs mutual curiosity in the impact of digital culture on contemporary design. By mirroring the functional aesthetic of readable codes used to hold raw digital information the duo their own visually codes systems to experiments with randomly generate patterns.

The result? A series of experimental screen prints that translate a series of randomly generated data readings into careful compositions constructed by the artists. With a strong focus on compositions and scale, the pair have created 4 print series which include a large scale mural exploring the diverse possibilities of composing visual codes.

The exhibition was accompanied by a clean branding design with a bespoke typeface designed by Alex Gross from London design studio Our Place.
